Much pre-match despondency regarding apparent high rainfall in the Perranporth area was quashed with fake news and remarkably most people turned up. The weather apps had all predicted a bright & sunny evening and so we started despite near freezing temperatures, heavy mizzle and fog. Needless to say Hutton was less than enthusiastic about this, moping around with a green jacket on and blaming the rain for his immunosuppression.
Anyway-it was worth it as the sun came out right in the batsmen’s eyes and we managed to limit a fairly tidy Mystics batting line up to 89 of 20 overs. Solid bowling from Dinuka (4-0-24), Patterson (4-0-26), Walden (3-0-12), Gripper(2-0-13) & Van lingen(2-0-7). Wickets were however hard to come by- Farrar picked up 2 at the end(3-2-11) and Edwards one (2-1-8).
Confident of a quick run chase Van lingen(30) & Dush(14) set about it in style, well supported by Duncan (21). Unfortunately there then followed a withering collapse to some extremely slow bowling. A late flourish from Stead & Eas was too late and we finished 5 short on 84.
Thanks as always to The Mystics who are always a friendly bunch.
