Glorious sunshine at Boscawen last night, unfortunately another Silver medal awarded.
Batting first Methigion struggled to get the pink ball away, and also struggled to hit the pink ball at all under pressure from some unfairly accurate bowling from Seaview. It took until the 15th over before the ball reached the boundary though Blake’s best straight drive would have gone for 7 if the bowler hadn’t unfairly and rather remarkabye caught it.
A late flurry from Dinuka (19 NO) saved some blushes as we struggled to 74-7.
There were moments in a disciplined bowling & fielding performance where some of the more naïve amongst us may have thought Seaview weren’t going to chase this meagre total down (needless to say the old hands were under no such illusion). Some very economical bowling from Gripper 3-0-8 & Tiley 3-0-4, at one point seemed to frustrate their batsmen- but it was only a glimmer and we were always 20 short as the tide went out and the ball kept even lower.
On a personal note, in my third game a captain I was particularly pleased with the fielding positions- always ensuring players were moved away from harm and the ball. A special note must go to an extraordinary fielding performance from Dush in his second appearence- must have saved 30 runs. He has been promptly promoted to pathway planning and reflection lead in radiology as a reward.
Next week St Gluvias- away.
