Match Report

Strong and stable Captaincy, injections of Walden & Easwaren youth, the return of French-Constant, Adams poached from Truro, Gripper in the form of his life, Tiley’s mother sent packing, Aru not on-call, Dinuka/Hutton & many others in Italy……much room for ridiculous optimism. Many many thanks to Mark for his WhatsApp uplifting pep talk -‘I think we may be in trouble’. Whilst not ripping he should take up prophecy.

The lurid details:-

Perranarworthal 141-2 of 20. Excellent dismissals of their opening pair by allowing them to quickly reach 30 was some relief and the last 8 overs were comparatively very economical (at one point 200 looked likely). French -Constant(4-0-18), Gripper(3-0-16) & Van-locum were excellent at curtailing the score. Van-locum particularly impressive with the cross seam skidder ending with4- 2-27. Valuable earlier contributions from Adams (2-0-18),Eas Junior (2-0-16), Tiley(2-0-25) , Edwards(3-0-18)against very resolute batting- the sort where they hit the straight stuff as well.

The chase was unfortunately always in doubt and we ended 2 overs short of our full allowance at 87. The highlights were no ducks, a solid anchor role from Aru-10 and some Gower esq strokeplay from Tiley(11) and French-Constant(9). Unfortunately the oppositions ability to run, throw and catch one handed made the coalition of Methigion chaos look fairly weak & wobbly. 3 run outs again this week- I think we should just stick to boundaries- much better for next years TV rights as well.

But heh, it was a beautiful evening with cricket again the winner.

Next week Camborne SOM at home- mainly students I’m hoping so we may be able to bribe a win out of them, given the magic money tree didn’t get planted.
